3 Super Seeds You Should Eat Daily

Seeds are the perfect addition to any diet, but essential to a plant based lifestyle. Nuts and seeds contain healthy fats, omega 3 fatty acids, protein, minerals, and vitamins. Not only are they little vessels of optimal health, they’re also very fulfilling as a result!

Even without salt and sugar, a small handful of seeds is enough for many to get through a hangry moment. Check out these three seeds we love to fuel ourselves with during our day!

Flax

Flax Seeds are an incredibly useful and nutritious seed. More than just a snack, flax can be an effective egg substitute when mixed with water and allowed to settle.

Flax Seeds are also one of the best plant-based sources of omega 3 fatty acids, particularly Alpha-Linolenic Acid (ALA). These are excellent for transitioning vegans, many of whom likely obtained much of their omega 3’s in the past from fish.

Chia

We’ve been all about chia seeds since day 1. The “strength” behind the Aztec Empire, we’re sure you’ve heard it before, but these are the most fibrous food in the world! At around 40% fiber, chia seeds are incredibly heart healthy, great for weight loss, GI issues, and general enjoyment. Chia pudding is always a tremendous breakfast option!

Sunflower

Beloved by both baseball coaches and hardcore vegans, these seeds are more than a novelty, they’re a superfood. Sunflower seeds continue to find their way into our diets as a protein powder, everyday snack, and smoothie bowl topper. Whether shelled and salted, or bare and blended, sunflower seeds are high in protein, monounsaturated fat, and Vitamin E. They are also associated with reduced inflammation in middle aged adults.
