- Sage
The above are among the easiest herbs to grow inside. Now that we know what we’re planting, let’s talk about how to plant em!
To assemble your DIY mason jar garden, you’ll need a few things :
1. Mason Jars
2. Stones (enough to fill 2-3 inches of each mason jar)
3. Soil
4. Herbs or seeds
The actual process of planting is pretty straight forward.
1. First start by adding stones into the mason jar. Since mason jars don’t have any drainage holes, these stones will act like an interior drainage system. Fill 2-3 inches of the jar with the stones.
2. Your next step is going to be to add soil. You’ll wanna fill up the jar with soil until about 1-2 inches away from the top lip.
3. For Seeds : You’ll probably find instructions on the package provided by the manufacturer, but a good general rule of planting seeds is to simply place them on top of the soil, add another inch or two of soil, and water lightly.
For herb transfer into Mason Jar : Gently remove herb from original container and place into mason jar. Cover roots with soil and pack firmly. Water lightly.
And that’s it! It may also be a good idea to label your herbs that way as they grow you can track and enjoy them accordingly!
